Baby tracker apps without ads or paywalls: what to look for
By the Circle Baby Care team · Checked against NHS guidance · Not a substitute for advice from your midwife, health visitor or GP

Quick answer: A baby tracker without ads or paywalls is either genuinely free (rare and often short-lived) or charges one clear price with nothing locked behind upgrades. Before you download, check four things: who pays for the app, what the free tier can't do, whether sharing costs extra, and whether you can export your data.
Why so many baby tracker apps have ads
Building and running an app costs money every month. If parents don't pay, advertisers usually do. That can mean formula, nappy and sleep-product adverts shown to people at 3am. Or it can mean a free tier that works until the moment you need it most, such as sharing with a partner, seeing trends or exporting for the GP.
Neither is sinister, but it is worth knowing which model you are signing up for.
What to check before you download
- Who pays? Look for "contains ads" or "in-app purchases" on the store listing. No price at all usually means adverts or data.
- What's locked? Read the upgrade screen, not just the feature list. Common locks are sharing, charts, exports and multiple babies.
- Does sharing cost per person? Some apps charge each caregiver separately. With grandparents and a childminder, that adds up.
- Can you get your data out? A good tracker lets you export a summary for your health visitor or GP.
- Is the guidance evidence-based? In the UK, look for the NHS, Start for Life, UNICEF Baby Friendly or NICE as the sources.
How Circle Baby Care approaches it
We chose one plan and nothing else: £3.99 a month, or £34.99 a year, for up to six people. That covers you, a partner and up to four caregivers. There are no adverts, no upgrade screens inside the app, and no feature you will find locked at 4am.
- Everything included: feed timer with left and right sides, pumping, sleep, nappies, the dose-safe medicine window, the NHS-aligned baby calendar, UK-WHO growth charts and the SOS button.
- Sharing included: invite a partner, grandparents or a nanny with one tap.
- Your data is yours: export a clean seven-day summary, and read how your log is never lost.
- Try before paying: 10 days free with no card needed, and a 30-day money-back guarantee after your first charge.
If a free app with adverts works for you, that is a completely reasonable choice. We compare the options honestly in what you actually pay for with a free baby tracker, and in our Huckleberry alternative guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a completely free baby tracker with no ads?
A few exist, often run as hobby projects or paid for by a hospital or brand. They can be great, but check how the app is funded and whether it is still being updated.
Why doesn't Circle have a free tier?
A free tier needs either adverts or a paywall to fund it. We didn't want to show adverts to exhausted parents, or lock sharing behind an upgrade. One low price for the whole family felt more honest.
Can grandparents use it without paying?
Yes. One subscription covers the whole circle, so invited grandparents and caregivers don't pay anything.
Does Circle sell my data?
No. We don't sell or share your baby's data with advertisers. See our privacy policy.
